One year later..

Image
It’s been one year since I officially launched this blog (21st June 2020) and now feels like the right time to give a little insight! This blog came into existence because I had always helped my batchmates with my notes and all the tips I had helped them prepare for GPAT. Once my GPAT exam was over I used to get a lot of doubts from my juniors and that’s when I decided to put in all the knowledge I had to help anyone and everyone that I can. I also sat down and spent endless hours scanning each and page of my notes and uploaded them on the drive folder. What stemmed from a small idea has become such a big deal that now one year later this blog has about 10,000 views which is immense! I had never anticipated the blog to spread so much and gain so much attention. I have received messages from people studying all the way in Delhi and thanking me for the blog! I have received countless messages from juniors telling me how this blog and my notes have helped them in their GPAT 202...

10. Dear batch of 2021

Image
This one is for you guys, the current batch of Final Year B. Pharmacy students who are preparing for GPAT 2021 and my target audience. I'm assuming that most of you are people from in and around Pune and were aiming to join APEX to prepare for your exam. You must have heard stories from your seniors too about Mohan Sir, APEX and their yearlong studying sessions that ultimately led them up to the exam and achieving what they did! While my batch has been crying about missing out on our last few days, last practical, last exam, farewell and graduation, I understand that the situation isn’t too exciting for you guys either. You still have the whole Final Year ahead of you and most of that is going to be spent at home via online lectures. You have missed out on the APEX classes that happen every weekend for a few months now but I have heard that Sir did start online lectures since a few weeks now and that is great news. Most of the colleges have also started online lectures so you...

9. D-Day, aftermath and the result

Image
28 th January 2020 was the D-Day for me. I had a “days counter” widget on my home screen that kept ticking each day and showed me precisely how many days I had in hand before this crucial day comes. The day counter widget The reason why this post exists is so that I can give you a glimpse of what the day was for me, what to anticipate and how my overall exam went. I would prefer if you read this post a few days before your GPAT exam so you know what to expect. I’m assuming that you have your GPAT exam is coming up in the next few days and these are the questions running through your mind: Have I studied enough of the syllabus and solved enough questions to successfully give this exam? Am I going to chicken out and freeze when I see the question paper in front of me? Am I going to be able to solve all the questions in time? Am I ready?  ·         Believe me when I say this that you will never be able to complete and remember 100% of the syllabus that...

8. Timetables, persistence, breaks and hardships

Image
My aim through this blog is to give you a perspective on how I went through my preparation so that you can do yours more efficiently. It isn’t in-depth and doesn’t involve any direct instructions that can be considered as ‘spoon feeding’. I give opinions and views to aid as a guideline for you. You can decide to utilize the information I give as however you see fit. Timetables If you want to succeed at something you need to clearly define what your goal is, what are the steps you require to achieve that and then plan for it. Planning is an integral part without which you will just be wandering towards a goal without a path and without any certainty that you will reach indeed. A plan will also help you measure if you are actually achieving what you planned and how better you have gotten at it! Timetables are important because in a very broad sense you get an idea of what all subjects/topics you need to cover and how much time can you actually dedicate to each task. Another reason wh...

7. Studying and making notes

Image
If you’re of the opinion that making notes is a tedious task, an unnecessary step that is not needed when you can directly read and study and remember from textbooks, then welcome to this post where I’ll share a different perspective. I have discussed this briefly in my previous post where I spoke about how to use a reference book. Once you have gone through the material in references and properly understood the topic, then comes the next step, making notes. The gist of this post is then when you “study” a certain topic, you will be using more than one book, teacher’s ppts, senior's notes, YouTube video and a bunch of other tools to properly understand it. You will take a few days to understand the topic and you will also retain it only for a few days. If you do not make your own notes at this stage, when you need to revise that topic a few months later then you are not going to retain it with the same efficiency as you did before. If you wish to revise it again the process is ...

6. Reference books 101

Image
I’ve covered one whole post about references, but those were some views/opinions that I had that I wanted to share with you so you get a better perspective about them. If you’re here for this post, then I hope I’ve already convinced you enough to fall in love with and use references. This post is going to be my views on the all the references for each of the subjects that I used so far in my four years of B. Pharmacy, which ones are the best for each subject and how to use them for maximum benefit. This post is based on my own experience in all these years and someone else might have different views on what their favorite books are and how they used them. You can use this as a basic guide to start exploring them! You can borrow these books from the library, download them from the internet, scan them to make your own PDFs and the last option you have is to Xerox them at your college stationary (I’m assuming they do it at a cheap cost because my college stationary used to Xerox boo...
