5. Online resources I used

Image
This is the post that deals with all the goodies and shortcuts and one of the main reasons you ever visited my blog. It’s alright because I was in your place once too and wished for access to one site/blog/post that would tell me what are the best online resources out there. This blog is an accumulation of all the resources I found out and used over a period of a year and the best course of action for you would be to go through all of them, find out what you feel works best for you and make maximum use of it. All of them are free and easily accessible online resources and books. 1.    WhatsApp We use Whatsapp everyday so it is imperative that we have some form of resource on there that helps us out. GDC (GPAT Discussion Center) : If you go through their website you will find a link to get in contact with them over WhatsApp. Through that you will be added to a group chat where questions, youtube videos, study materials are posted everyday  https://www.facebook.com/GP...

4. Reference books – the crux

Reference books – the big, fat books that have been written in the most complicated words and have more pages than you have ever seen in your life? That isn’t the whole story and I’ll clarify a few things I didn’t know what reference books are and didn’t start using them until I entered my B. Pharmacy course. Up until then the only thing I had used were the textbooks prescribed by the SSC/HSC board during my School and Jr. College. Some of the facts I have learned over the years:  1.   Textbooks vs References The first thing I’d like to address is that the “textbooks” that we use like Techmax/TechNeo, Nirali, Career etc. are not the best books to study from. These books are just a summary of the reference books that have been cut short and organized as per the syllabus of that specific subject for that semester. It is a convenient book to have but it doesn’t have much information and is only useful to pass your semester exams by writing big lengthy answers. When it comes...

3. Starting your journey and your tools

Image
Now the real deal begins and you’ve gone through all the initial phases of your GPAT journey. Now I’m going to talk to you about what resources and tools you will require at some point during your preparation ahead. Firstly, you will need all of your handwritten notes and Xeroxes/print outs of all study material you have collected from your 1 st semester (I’m assuming that you have maintained all of those and not given them away yet). If you haven’t organized your notes semester/year wise, then I would suggest you to do that because that will make your work easier when you will need them during studying. These notes are going to come in handy when you revise the topics that were taught in the previous years. When we study a subject in that semester we make notes, we mark words, we draw easy diagrams, we write simple explanations to make our task easier when it comes to studying for the semester exam and this is going to make your process of revision for GPAT easier because you hav...

2. State of mind

Image
The very first thing that I would like to talk to you about is your state of mind because this is an underrated topic that nobody talks about. I am a student too and I have been in your shoes too so I can relate to what you’re going through. Initially GPAT seems like a very huge deal and a big task to study for. When you first look at the syllabus you will have some form of fear that creeps up in your mind and you ask yourself – “Will I ever be able to finish all of this syllabus and study all this?”. Trust me when I say that you are not alone and EVERYBODY asks themselves that question at one point, it doesn’t matter if you’ve always been a smart kid or if you’ve been an average person so far. You need to let go of that fear and acknowledge that you have a big task ahead of you but you are going to be okay. When it comes to GPAT you do not actually need to complete the whole syllabus 100% because there is a lot of stuff that has been mentioned there that isn’t very important for t...

1. When to start your preparation?

This is an open blog so I am assuming that you are a student studying B. Pharmacy right now and a question that most of my juniors ask me is when do I start studying for GPAT exam? There isn’t a definitive answer for that but there are a few points I would like you to consider: If you’re a First/Second Year student , then it is a very big deal that you know about GPAT exam and you are thinking about it from such a early start. You should be proud of yourself because you are on the right path. At this age you don’t have to really prepare for GPAT but this is the right time to study all the concepts in all the subjects and build a strong base and foundation for yourself. Read good textbooks, watch online videos and understand everything that is in your syllabus for now. This is going to make revision very easy for you when you reach the Third Year/Final Year and start preparing for GPAT. You have to learn to fall in love with your subjects and sincerely study and understand them. Don...

Introduction

Hey there, I'm Taher Vasowala, a Final Year B. Pharmacy student at Smt. Kashibai Navale College of Pharmacy, Pune, Maharashtra.  I gave the GPAT 2020 exam and secured an AIR 52 with a score of 256/500 . I had been preparing for the GPAT exam since February 2019 and this blog is an attempt to give as much information about the books, resources, tips and a bunch of tricks that helped me study through the course of one year. I hope that this will be beneficial to you in your preparation for GPAT in the coming year.  I believe that we should always share our journeys and pass on the best of what we have gained so that it helps others and makes their process simpler. I also give credit where credit is due and i would largely thank Mohan sir from APEX (Academy of Pharmaceutical Excellence), Pune where i went for GPAT classes from Feb '19 until the last few weeks before the GPAT exam. Sir has always been a big motivation when it comes to seeing what it means to be patient, p...
